Il y a toujours une couronne de sauge fraiche autour de l'autel qui reçoit les pierres qui entrent dans la hutte. Cette couronne de sauge est renouvelée avant chaque rituel, la précédente est offerte au feu.
Il n'est pas conseillé de boire de la tisane de sauge, c'est un médicament qui a des répercutions sur la fertilité des femmes et des hommes. Lame Deer nous demandait une tisane de bourgeon de pin ou une de menthe qu'il buvait dans la hutte. Il nous conseillait, aussi, de boire un café avant la cérémonie pour son effet contre le mal de tête.
La fête du premier jour du Printemps
C'est une cérémonie avec les enfants. C'est un rituel de régénération pour la hutte et tous les drapeaux qui sont hissés pour délimiter le cercle sacré. Ce rituel de l'Equinoxe de printemps est l'un des plus ancien.
Depuis le 21 juin 2001,
la journée du 21 juin est consacrée au Jour de Prière Mondiale pour la Paix. Une initiative du Chef Lakota Arvold Looking Horse 19ème génération des gardiens de "CANUPA" la Pipe Sacrée qui fut confiée à son peuple par la femme sacrée "Femme Bison Blanc".Tous les porteurs de Pipe Sacrée sont invités pour constituer autour d'eux un cercle de prière.
